Esila Bitter Melon with Olive Oil is a paste combining olive oil and bitter melon. Bitter melon is the fruit of a climbing plant in the gourd family, recognised by its elongated shape and bumpy surface. As it ripens, the fruit can turn from green to yellow and orange. It is also used as a vegetable in various cuisines. This paste comes from Esila, a brand that has prepared herbal products in Hatay İskenderun for 30 years.
Esila Bitter Melon with Olive Oil contains no preservatives. The blend includes olive oil alongside bitter melon. Olive oil is obtained from the fruit of the olive tree and is widely used in Mediterranean cooking, from salads to vegetable dishes. Depending on the olive variety and ripeness, olive oils can have fruity, grassy or milder flavour notes. Here, olive oil joins bitter melon in a paste rather than being offered as a separate cooking oil.
