Product Description
Esila Bay Laurel Oil is a plant oil presented in a 50 ml pack. Bay laurel is an evergreen tree associated with the Mediterranean region, recognisable by its leaves and small fruits that darken as they ripen. Oil obtained from its fruits is also known as gar oil in Turkey. While bay leaves have a place in cooking, the fruit oil is closely associated with traditional soap making across the region.
Esila presses this bay laurel oil at its own facility in Hatay, using a cold-pressing process with no heat applied. The oil is natural and additive-free, obtained from a single plant rather than blended with other oils. No preservatives or fragrance are added. Esila has been preparing plant-based products in İskenderun, Hatay, for 30 years, and carries out the pressing of this oil at its own premises.
Bay laurel fruit oil has a long-established role as a plant ingredient in Mediterranean soap making, particularly in the traditions associated with Hatay and Aleppo. It can be included in the oil blends used to make bar soaps, with recipes varying between places and makers. A bathroom setting with bar soap, a ceramic soap dish and a cotton towel reflects that everyday cultural connection. Read the product label before using Esila Bay Laurel Oil.
