Esila Laurel Soap takes its name from the laurel oil in its ingredients and comes in a 135 g size. Laurel is an evergreen tree associated with the Mediterranean region. Its aromatic leaves are familiar in cooking, while its oil is also used in soapmaking. Here, laurel oil appears alongside olive oil. This soap is offered by Esila, a brand that has prepared herbal products in Hatay İskenderun for 30 years.
The ingredients are listed in this order: laurel oil, deionized water, olive oil, soap base and salt. Laurel and olive are two different trees found around the Mediterranean, and oils from both are used in soapmaking. Olive oil comes from the fruit of the olive tree and has uses beyond the kitchen, including soap. In this recipe, the two plant oils are combined with water, soap base and salt.
